Alignment, Rising, Sticking, and Phototaxis: Modulating the Behavior of Hematite Micropeanuts
Although a rich variety of behaviors, such as rising and phototaxis, are observed with light‐activated semiconductor microparticles, the experimental conditions under which such behaviors occur have not been elucidated. In this study, pH, fuel concentration, and light intensity are varied, revealing diverse behaviors of hematite microparticles.

A chitosan‐graft‐gelatin hydrogel, incorporating a pH‐responsive dye, bromothymol blue, as a colorimetric freshness indicator is introduced to monitor the spoilage of chicken breasts. The hydrogel indicates microbial activity, and the production of carbon dioxide due to deteriorating food freshness via a change in pH, and serves as a smart and visual ...

Parametrization of microbial survival models under UVC exposure [PDF]
This study aims to identify and parameterize the optimal survival curves for 33 fundamental microorganisms subject to UVC exposure through experimental measurements. We compile published data on UVC doses and corresponding survival fractions for these microorganisms to estimate parameters for four prominent survival models: Single-target (ST), Multi ...

This study investigates the antifungal efficacy of ultrashort pulsed laser‐induced periodic surface structures (USP‐DLIP) on copper, brass, and steel surfaces. Using Aspergillus niger as a model, the research highlights a 99% reduction in spore viability on 9 µm structured copper surfaces due to enhanced copper ion release. Scanning electron microscopy

Atomic Layer Deposition of ZnO Coating on Biodegradable Fe‐Based Alloys
A biodegradable Fe69Mn30C1 alloy is coated with ZnO using atomic layer deposition at 100 °C. Coating thickness impacts surface roughness, wettability, and in vitro degradation while maintaining hydrophilicity. The ZnO coating exhibits significant antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, achieving an inhibitory rate of up to 99.2%, and can ...
