Examining early growth genetic potential of two distinct localities of Florida Bass and an F1 hybrid bass (Micropterus floridanus x Micropterus salmoides) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The pursuit of trophy black bass (Micropterus spp.) is a challenge many freshwater anglers embrace. In addition, the growth of a trophy-sized specimen is a challenge fishery and hatchery managers have striven to solve for years. Florida Bass (Micropterus

Fine structure of the retina of black bass, Micropterus salmoides (Centrarchidae, Teleostei).

open access: yesHistology and histopathology, 1999
The structure of light- and dark-adapted retina of the black bass, Micropterus salmoides has been studied by light and electron microscopy. This retina lacks blood vessels at all levels. The optic fiber layer is divided into fascicles by the processes of Müller cells and the ganglion cell layer is represented by a single row of voluminous cells.

NeMO: A Flexible R Package for Nested Multi‐Species Occupancy Modeling and eDNA Study Optimization

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 3, May–June 2026.
NeMO provides a flexible framework for modeling multi‐species site occupancy from eDNA data, estimating species presence and detectability despite imperfect detection. It supports diverse experimental designs, enables model comparison, and guides study design optimization by calculating minimal sampling effort to detect species, helping ecologists ...

Study on the immune enhancers against Micropterus salmoides rhabdovirus infection

open access: yesJournal of Limnology
Micropterus salmoides rhabdovirus (MSRV) is one of the most serious pathogens harming M. salmoides juvenile, which had brought huge economic losses to farming industry. Studies involving candidate genes to the clinical diseases, however, are limited. In

Effect of adding brown algae extracts to feed on amino acid of muscle in Micropterus salmoides

open access: yesSiliao yanjiu
The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of adding brown algae extracts to feed on the amino acid composition of muscle in Micropterus salmoides. A total of 630 Micropterus salmoides with good condition and similar body weight (33.33±1.95) g were ...

The difference of the composition and digestive enzymes of gut microbiome in herbivorous blunt snout bream (Megalobrama amblycephala) and carnivorous largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides)

open access: yesAquaculture and Fisheries
Blunt snout bream (Megalobrama amblycephala) and largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) are a herbivorous and a carnivorous freshwater fish species respectively.

Northern Largemouth Bass, Micropterus salmoides salmoides, and Florida Largemouth Bass, Micropterus s. floridanus, Population Structure and Stocking Protocol Assessment in Seven Arkansas Reservoirs using Microsatellite Analysis

open access: yes, 2013
Several Arkansas reservoirs have been stocked with Florida largemouth bass (FLMB; Micropterus salmoides floridanus) for decades given that FLMB have been reported to have superior growth characteristics when compared to the native northern largemouth ...

DataSheet_1_Transcriptome and 16S rRNA analysis revealed the response of largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) to Rhabdovirus infection.docx

open access: yes, 2022
To better understand the response of largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) to Micropterus salmoides rhabdovirus (MSRV) infection, we investigated the intestinal bacterial flora and transcriptome profile of fish at 72 hours post-infection (hpi).

Home Range Tendency of the Largemouth Bass (Micropterus Salmoides)

open access: yesEcology, 1967
By repeated sampling of a population of largemouth bass, including individually marked fish, and by use of reference markers along the shoreline, the observance of a home range by the bass was demonstrated. Of 96 recaptures considered, 59% were recaptured within 100 ft, 83% within 200 ft, and 96% within 300 ft of the original point of capture.
