Targeting PRAME directly or via EZH2 inhibition overcomes retinoid resistance and represents a novel therapy for keratinocyte carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The study evaluated the function and therapeutic implications of PRAME in basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The findings demonstrate that PRAME impairs keratinocyte differentiation pathways. Furthermore, PRAME impairs anticancer response to retinoid compounds in BCC and SCC cells.

Treatment of chronic apical periodontitis on the basis of the modern concept of endodontics (clinical case)

open access: yesЭндодонтия Today, 2020
Repeated endodontic treatment is often a contentious issue in the process of making a final decision in the preparation of a comprehensive plan for the treatment of a patient at the dental reception and causes great interest among dentists.

Repair of a perforating internal resorption: two case reports

open access: yesJournal of Dental Sciences, 2016
Internal resorption is a rare condition in permanent teeth, and may result from trauma, caries, or restorative procedures. Internal resorption is usually asymptomatic and is first identified as a round-shaped enlargement of a root-canal space on routine ...

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery in Korea - A Neurosurgeon’s View - [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and Technique, 2016
In Korea, neurosurgery has taken the lead in minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) since early 1980s, unlike most of other countries, in which orthopedic surgery usually leads MISS.

CircCCNB1 inhibits vasculogenic mimicry by sequestering NF90 to promote miR‐15b‐5p and miR‐7‐1‐3p processing in nasopharyngeal carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircCCNB1 expression is down‐regulated in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC); thus, less NF90 protein is bound to circCCNB1 and more binds to pri‐miRNAs, blocking their (pri‐miRNAs) binding to DGCR8 and inhibiting the processing and generation of miR‐15b‐5p/miR‐7‐1‐3p. Furthermore, decreased miR‐15b‐5p/miR‐7‐1‐3p promotes the expression of the target genes

An Optofluidic Lens Array Microchip for High Resolution Stereo Microscopy

open access: yesMicromachines, 2014
We report the development of an add-on, chip-based, optical module—termed the Microfluidic-based Oil-immersion Lenses (μOIL) chip—which transforms any stereo microscope into a high-resolution, large field of view imaging platform.

Quantitative differential phase contrast imaging in an LED array microscope.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2015
Illumination-based differential phase contrast (DPC) is a phase imaging method that uses a pair of images with asymmetric illumination patterns. Distinct from coherent techniques, DPC relies on spatially partially coherent light, providing 2× better ...

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.
