A systematic review on the microscopic agglutination test seroepidemiology of bovine leptospirosis in Latin America

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 2015
The diagnosis of leptospirosis commonly relies on serology, which has three issues that are referred: the sampling, the antigen panel, and the cutoff point. We propose a systematic review of the bovine leptospirosis in Latin America, in order to provide a better understanding of the evolution of the research and of the seroepidemiology of bovine ...

Comparison of the Complement-Fixation Test and the Microscopic-Agglutination Test (Agglutination-Lysis) for the Detection of Leptospiral Serogroup Antibodies.

Canadian journal of comparative medicine and veterinary science, 2007
The MA and CF tests using alcohol extracted antigens have been compared with sera from infected rabbits and calves. The MA test was highly serotype specific with serum from both animal species. The CF test was broadly reactive with serum from rabbits infected with various serotypes.

An evaluation of the semi-automated complement fixation test and the microscopic agglutination test for the serological diagnosis of bovine leptospirosis

New Zealand Veterinary Journal, 1979
Abstract Groups of cows were selected from each of 22 herds which had recent evidence of leptospirosis or abortions. Blood and urine samples were collected from each animal on a number of occasions over a period of 11 months. Attempts were made to detect leptospiruria by microscopic and cultural procedures.

Occurrence of leptospiral infections in swine population in Poland evaluated by ELISA and microscopic agglutination test

Polish Journal of Veterinary Sciences, 2010
Swine are one of significant reservoirs and sources of Leptospira infections for man. Serological screenings help to effectively control the epidemiological situation in swine herds and to prevent transmission of Leptospira from animals to man. The purpose of this study was to investigate, by the use of serological methods, the prevalence of infections

Comparison of a Recently Developed Macroscopic Agglutination Test for the Diagnosis of Leptospiral Jaundice with the Standard Microscopic Test

Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1942
The laboratory diagnosis of leptospiral jaundice has been handicapped by the lack of a simple serological test. Satisfactory microscopic agglutination tests have been described, among others, by Schiiffner and Mochtar,1 Erber,2 and Fletcher.3 While these tests are quite satisfactory, they have the decided disadvantage that they require microscopic ...

Comparison of diagnosis of Leptospirosis by microscopic agglutination test and polymerase chain reaction

Proceedings of the Annual Research Symposium 2025, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka
Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease caused by spirochaetes of genus Leptospira. Sri Lanka is considered as a hotspot for leptospirosis. Leptospirosis includes wide spectrum of clinical features ranging from mild fever to multi-organ dysfunction which mimics many other infectious diseases.

Molecular Characteristics of Antibody Detected by the Microscopic Agglutination Test in Serum of Guinea Pigs with Leptospirosis

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1972
SUMMARY Results of density-gradient ultracentrifugation and molecular-sieve chromatography supported evidence that at least two classes of anti-leptospiral immunoglobulins (Ig) were detected by the microscopic agglutination test (mal) in guinea pig serum after guinea pigs were inoculated with serotype kennewicki.

A Comparative Study on the Use of Whey and Serum for Microscopic Agglutination test for the Detection of Leptospira Antibodies

British Veterinary Journal, 1976
SUMMARY Whey and serum from 123 animals in three herds were tested using a microscopic agglutination test. A close relationship between the whey and serum agglutination titres indicates that whey agglutination test is a dependable test which can be employed in testing individual or bulk milk samples.
