We present a novel semiconductor laser structure, the microstrip laser, where the epitaxial laser layers sit directly above a thick gold layer, instead of on a conventional semiconductor substrate. This design provides advantages for both high frequency and high-power performance compared to conventional ridge waveguide structures.

Resonances for Microstrip Transmission Lines
SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2004Summary: We rigorously derive asymptotic formulae for resonances associated with a microstrip transmission line mounted on a planar waveguide with variable electromagnetic characteristics when the width of the line goes to zero.

Modeling microstrip circuits and microstrip antennas on cylindrical substrates
1986 Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 1986The subject of modelling microstrip circuits and antennas on cylindrical substrates is considered. Two efficient methods are presented which overcome the heretofore existing convergence problems for the evaluation of near field quantities. The characterization of microstrip transmission lines, associated discontinuities and microstrip line fed ...

Circularly polarized microstrip reflectarray with microstrip antenna feed
2015 IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Computing and Communication Technologies (CONECCT), 2015A circularly polarized microstrip reflectarray antenna with a microstrip antenna feed and patches having variable rotation angles is proposed. A parametric study for three different configurations, namely a single patch, 1 × 3 and 3 × 1 array is presented. The plus-shaped and 3 × 3 array configurations have also been studied.

Integrated Microstrip-to-Waveguide Transition With Microstrip Directional Coupler
IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, 2018In this letter, a novel design of microstrip-to-waveguide transition integrated with a microstrip directional coupler (MDC) is presented. This integration was designed, so that the MDC not only does not add extra loss to the main signal but also provides high directivity.

Expressions are derived for the conductor loss in microstrip transmission lines. The formulas take into account the finite thickness of the strip conductor and apply to the mixed dielectric system. Good agreement with experimental data is obtained for rutile and alumina substrates.
