Do We Really Need Frequency‐Selective Surface and Metasurface Reflectors for Antenna Gain Enhancement, or Are Metallic Reflectors Enough?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Enhancing antenna gain remains a key requirement in modern wireless systems, particularly with the rapid evolution of 5G, emerging 6G networks, satellite links, and high‐resolution radar. Recent research trends increasingly rely on frequency‐selective surfaces (FSSs) and metasurface‐based reflectors, which offer precise electromagnetic wave control ...

Microstrip Tunable Bandpass Filter with the Colinear Resonators [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2013
This paper presents the lumped element circuit and transmission line equivalent circuit for a varactor-tuned bandpass filter. The filter consists of transmission lines, fixed capacitors, and a varactor diode. The colinear resonant sections, in this filter, are not configured in parallel, as they are in a conventional combline filter.

Miniaturized Single‐Layer Quasielliptic Response HMSIW Filter With Four Transmission Poles

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This study presents a miniaturized filter based on half‐mode substrate‐integrated waveguide (HMSIW) resonant cavities, a bent‐line resonator, and a composite right/left‐handed (CRLH) resonator. The filter employs two HMSIW resonant cavities, which effectively reduce its size and prevent the propagation of higher‐order modes TE120 and TE220 within the ...
