Refinement of the Magnesium–Aluminium Alloy Microstructure with Zirconium
The magnesium–aluminium alloy AZ91 was inoculated with zirconium to refine the microstructure. Six different concentrations of zirconium content were tested, ranging from 0.1 to 0.6 wt %, and compared to the baseline AZ91 alloy without modification. Melted metal was poured into a preheated ceramic mould and the temperature was measured and recorded ...

Refining bimodal microstructure of materials with MSTRUCT [PDF]
The possibilities of modelling the diffraction profiles from bimodal microstructure in computer program MSTRUCT are demonstrated on two examples. A special “Double Component” profile effect can be utilized for such problems. At first it was applied to an analysis of a mixture of two nanocrystalline anatase powders with different crystallite sizes and ...

Microstructural refinement and superplasticity of IN-718 superalloy [PDF]
A new thermal and mechanical treatment, based on a cold-work cycle, able to promote a superplastic behaviour in the IN-718 superalloy is illustrated. The optimum conditions of temperature and strain rate for the best superplastic behaviour of the alloy have been found.

Experimental simulation research on TMCP of 30MnCr22 oil well pipe
Thermo-mechanical controlled process (TMCP) of 30MnCr22 oil well pipes was investigated by experimental simulation. The results showed that controlled rolling of TMCP effectively exerted the comprehensive effects of grains refinement by recrystallization
