The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

Efficient Computation of Dendritic Microstructures Using Adaptive Mesh Refinement [PDF]
We study dendritic microstructure evolution using an adaptive grid, finite element method applied to a phase-field model. The computational complexity of our algorithm, per unit time, scales linearly with system size, rather than the quadratic variation given by standard uniform mesh schemes.

This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

The Effect of Microstructural Refinement on the Localized Corrosion of Model Zn-Al-Mg Alloy Coatings on Steel [PDF]
A combination of in-situ Scanning Vibrating Electrode Technique (SVET) and time-lapse immersion optical microscopy (TLM) is used to investigate the effect of microstructural refinement on patterns of localized corrosion affecting zinc-aluminum-magnesium (
