Solid microstructured optical fiber [PDF]
An all-solid microstructured fiber based on two thermallymatched silicate glasses with a high index contrast has been fabricated for the first time. The microstructured cladding was shown to be essentially unchanged during fiber drawing. Fiber attenuation was measured as 5dB/m at 1.55m by the cutback method.

Superlattice Microstructured Optical Fiber [PDF]
A generic three-stage stack-and-draw method is demonstrated for the fabrication of complex-microstructured optical fibers. We report the fabrication and characterization of a silica superlattice microstructured fiber with more than 800 rhomboidally arranged air-holes. A polarization-maintaining fiber with a birefringence of 8.5 × 10−4 is demonstrated.

Spectral-Domain Measurements of Birefringence and Sensing Characteristics of a Side-Hole Microstructured Fiber [PDF]
We experimentally characterized a birefringent side-hole microstructured fiber in the visible wavelength region. The spectral dependence of the group and phase modal birefringence was measured using the methods of spectral interferometry. The phase modal

Generation of infrared photon pairs by spontaneous four-wave mixing in a CS2-filled microstructured optical fiber [PDF]
We experimentally demonstrate frequency non-degenerate photon-pair generation via spontaneous four-wave mixing from a novel CS2-filled microstructured optical fiber.

Soft glass based specialty optical fibers and their applications - INVITED [PDF]
This paper describes a prospect for broadband mid-infrared (mid-IR) highly coherent supercontinuum generation. Tellurite and chalcogenide glass with high transparency up to the mid-IR range are used as fiber materials.

Optofluidics in Microstructured Optical Fibers [PDF]
In this paper, we review the development and applications of optofluidics investigated based on the platform of microstructured optical fibers (MOFs) that have miniature air channels along the light propagating direction. The flexibility of the customizable air channels of MOFs provides enough space to implement light-matter interaction, as fluids and ...
