Microstructured Optical Fiber Sensors

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2017
In this paper, a review of microstructured optical fiber (MOF) sensors is given. Various kinds of MOFs are described and their sensing applications are summarized. Two main types of MOF sensors in terms of grating based and interferometry based are reviewed.

Microstructured optical fiber refractive index sensor

Optics Letters, 2010
We describe a dual-core microstructured optical fiber designed for refractive index sensing of fluids. We show that by using the exponential dependence of intercore coupling on analyte refractive index, both large range and high sensitivity can be achieved in the one device.

Microstructured Polymer Optical Fibers

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2009
The fabrication, materials, properties and applications of microstructured polymer optical fibers are reviewed. Microstructured polymer optical fibers formed the basis of extensive work on the physics of microstructured fibers, and an outline of the contribution to the wider field of microstructured fibers is also presented.

Microstructured Optical Fiber Sensors

2007 9th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2007
Microstructured optical fiber (MOF) sensors are nowadays utilized or proposed for the measurement of a large variety of physical and chemical parameters, e.g. in environmental and biological applications because of their efficiency and versatility. This paper, at first, gives a short review of MOF sensors reported in literature. An evanescent field MOF

Microstructured optical fibers

2017
In the mid-1990s, a new class of optical fibers emerged: the microstructured optical fiber (MOF) [1,2]. In these fibers, light is guided by a complex microstructure that often, but not always, includes air holes running along the fiber length. Due to their enormous scientific and technological potential, these fibers have been a major field of study in
