All-Fiber Light Intensity Detector Based on an Ionic-Liquid-Adorned Microstructured Optical Fiber
A compact optical fiber light intensity detector based on an ionic-liquid-adorned microstructured optical fiber (MOF) is proposed. The light intensity detector is implemented by splicing an index-guiding MOF with two air holes in the innermost layer ...

Amyloidogenic Peptide Fragments Designed From Bacterial Collagen‐like Proteins Form Hydrogel
This study identified amyloidogenic sequence motifs in bacterial collagen‐like proteins and exploited these to design peptides that self‐assemble into β‐sheet fibers and form hydrogels. One hydrogel supported healthy fibroblast growth, showing promise for biocompatible materials. Our work demonstrates that bacterial sequences can be harnessed to create

Nonlinear femtosecond pulse propagation in an all-solid photonic bandgap fiber [PDF]
Nonlinear femtosecond pulse propagation in an all-solid photonic bandgap fiber is experimentally and numerically investigated. Guiding light in such fiber occurs via two mechanisms: photonic bandgap in the central silica core or total internal reflection
