Suspended-Core Microstructured Polymer Optical Fibers and Potential Applications in Sensing [PDF]
The study of the fabrication, material selection, and properties of microstructured polymer optical fibers (MPOFs) has long attracted great interest. This ever-increasing interest is due to their wide range of applications, mainly in sensing, including temperature, pressure, chemical, and biological species. This manuscript reviews the manufacturing of

Design, fabrication, and characterization of microstructured polymer optical fibers [PDF]
Fabrication and characterization of microstructured polymer optical fibers (MPOFs) are presented. The effects of drawing temperature and heating time during the fabrication processes are studied. The fibers exhibit single-mode characteristics as predicted by numerical simulation.

Infiltration liquid crystal in microstructured polymer optical fibers [PDF]
Microstructured polymer optical fibres (mPOFs) have attracted significant interests, mainly because fabrication techniques have allowed novel structures to be made at low temperature with polymers, especially PMMA (refractive index 1.49) [1]. Recently, thermal and electrical tunabilities of liquid crystals infiltrated silica photonic bandgap fibres ...

Transmission performance of multimode W-type microstructured polymer optical fibers
By solving the time-independent power flow equation (TI PFE), we study mode coupling in a multimode W-type microstructured polymer optical fiber (mPOF) with a solid-core. The multimode W-type mPOF is created by modifying the cladding layer and reducing the core of a multimode singly clad (SC) mPOF.

Optoelectronic and mechanical properties of microstructured polymer optical fiber neural probes
Multifunctional optical fiber-based neural interfaces have attracted significant attention for neural stimulation, recording, and photopharmacology towards understanding the central nervous system. In this work, we demonstrate the fabrication, optoelectrical characterization, and mechanical analysis of four types of microstructured polymer optical ...
