Development of a high power microwave thruster, with a magnetic nozzle, for space applications [PDF]
This paper describes the current development of a high-power microwave electrothermal thruster (MET) concept at the NASA Lewis Research Center. Such a thruster would be employed in space for applications such as orbit raining, orbit maneuvering, station ...

Microwave Absorption for Detection of Dirac Fermions in SnTe Films
Microwave absorption can detect Dirac fermions in samples exposed to the atmosphere. Results showed that although topological surface states are robust against environmental degradation, they are not detectable by electrical transport measurements. Hence, microwave absorption can detect Dirac fermions even in samples whose surfaces have deteriorated ...

Exploring the Potential of Microwave Annealing for Enhancing Si‐based GeSn Lasers
We explore low‐thermal‐budget microwave annealing to enhance the performance of group‐IV GeSn lasers on Si. Microwave annealing under optimal conditions can simultaneously relax unwanted compressive strain and enhance the material quality of the GeSn active layer, thereby reducing the threshold and increasing the laser operating temperature.

Theoretical models of free-free microwave emission from solar magnetic loops [PDF]
The free-free microwave emission is calculated from a series of model magnetic loops. The loops are surrounded by a cooler external plasma, as required by recent simultaneous X ray and microwave observations, and a narrow transition zone separating the ...

Control of high power microwave radiation by electromagnetic band gap structures
A plasma control of powerful microwave propagation through the 1D and 2D EBG structures is investigated. Pulsed discharges in argon (or helium) at atmospheric pressure are applied as the plasma inhomogeneities. Temporal behavior of electron concentration
