Theory of the microwave induced zero resistance states in two-dimensional electron systems
The phenomena of the microwave induced zero resistance states (MIZRS) and the microwave induced resistance oscillations (MIRO) were discovered in the ultraclean two-dimensional electron systems in 2001 -- 2003 and have attracted great interest of ...

Reconfigurable Microenvironments Uncover Mechano‐Sensing Timescales and Direct Cell Polarity
A synthetic DNA‐crosslinked cell culture matrix enables control over the mechanical microenvironment surrounding cells. Independent tuning of stiffness and stress relaxation uncovers distinct timescales of mechano‐sensing that regulate cell behavior.

Cytogenetic analysis of the effects of 2.5 and 10.5 GHz microwaves on human lymphocytes
The biological effects of microwaves on living organisms remain highly controversial. Although some reports have suggested that microwaves may be directly or indirectly genotoxic, a direct action is unlikely because the low energy of microwave photons ...

Resonant isolator for maser amplifier [PDF]
An isolator is described for use in a low noise maser amplifier, which provides low loss across a wide bandwidth and which can be constructed at moderate cost.

Decoherence of a Josephson qubit due to coupling to two level systems
Noise and decoherence are major obstacles to the implementation of Josephson junction qubits in quantum computing. Recent experiments suggest that two level systems (TLS) in the oxide tunnel barrier are a source of decoherence. We explore two decoherence

Microwave workshop for windows [PDF]
A suite of three programs has been developed to support the teaching of microwave theory and design. A secondary function of the package is to support microwave engineers by providing a library of utilities to assist their design function. All three programs were written in Visual Basic and are aimed at supporting both tutor-directed and student ...

Design and Applications of Multi‐Frequency Programmable Metamaterials for Adaptive Stealth
This article provides a comprehensive overview of metamaterials, including their fundamental principles, properties, synthesis techniques, and applications in stealth, as well as their challenges and future prospects. It covers topics that are more advanced than those typically discussed in existing review articles, while still being closely connected ...

Magnetic spheres in microwave cavities
We apply Mie scattering theory to study the interaction of magnetic spheres with microwaves in cavities beyond the magnetostatic and rotating wave approximations. We demonstrate that both strong and ultra-strong coupling can be realized for a stand alone

Liquid Metals as Initiators of Free‐Radical Polymerization of Hydrogels: A Perspective
Gallium‐based liquid metals initiate free radical polymerization to form hydrogels without the use of toxic molecular initiators. In addition to initiating polymerization, they can act as crosslinkers, yielding softer, more extensible, and tougher hydrogels than those formed with conventional initiators.

Comparison of Phase-Based 3D Near-Field Source Localization Techniques for UHF RFID
In this paper, we present multiple techniques for phase-based narrowband backscatter tag localization in three-dimensional space with planar antenna arrays or synthetic apertures. Beamformer and MUSIC localization algorithms, known from near-field source
