Swept-wavelength mid-infrared fiber laser for real-time ammonia gas sensing

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2019
The mid-infrared (mid-IR) spectral region holds great promise for new laser-based sensing technologies, based on measuring strong mid-IR molecular absorption features.

Mid-infrared chirality and chiral thermal emission from twisted α-MoO3 [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
Chirality in the mid-infrared spectral range plays a crucial role across physical, chemical, and biological sciences, yet sources of chiral infrared light are currently difficult to obtain.

2-10 μm Mid-infrared Supercontinuum Light Sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Spectroscopy is the study of how light interacts with molecules, which can be used to identify various substances in for example foods and medicine, by observing which parts of the light is absorbed after interaction with the sample. Especially infrared light, more precisely the mid infrared part of the spectrum, is of interest because almost all ...

Tunable mW Narrow Bandwidth Mid-Infrared Light Source [PDF]

open access: yesLasers, Sources, and Related Photonic Devices, 2012
A Tunable Mid-IR light source base on single resonant Difference Frequency Generation (DFG) is experimentally investigated. The DFG process is pumped by an 800 nm tunable tapered diode laser. Grating feedback to the single mode channel of the tapered diode narrows the spectrum and allows for tuning of the diode laser wavelength by rotating the grating.

Broadband and fast frequency chirped FTIR spectroscopy with strongly modulated quantum cascade lasers [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2023
While the opportunity to perform fast and broadband spectroscopy in the Mid-IR portion of the electromagnetic spectrum is very appealing, it requires the use of compatible light-sources.

GaAs-chip-based mid-infrared supercontinuum generation

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications, 2023
The mid-infrared spectral region opens up new possibilities for applications such as molecular spectroscopy with high spatial and frequency resolution. For example, the mid-infrared light provided by synchrotron sources has helped for early diagnosis of ...

Experimental Investigation of Actively Q-Switched Er3+:ZBLAN Fiber Laser Operating at around 2.8 µm

open access: yesSensors, 2020
A diode-pumped Q-switched Er3+:ZBLAN double-clad, single-transverse mode fiber laser is practically realized. The Q-switched laser characteristics as a function of pump power, repetition rate, and fiber length are experimentally investigated. The results

Milliwatt-Level Spontaneous Emission Across the 3.5–8 µm Spectral Region from Pr3+ Doped Selenide Chalcogenide Fiber Pumped with a Laser Diode

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
A spontaneous emission fiber source operating in the mid-infrared (MIR) wavelength range from 3.5 to 8 µm is demonstrated for the first time at output power levels of at least 1 mW.
