Mid-infrared analogue polaritonic reversed Cherenkov radiation in natural anisotropic crystals

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Cherenkov radiation (CR) excited by fast charges can serve as on-chip light sources with a nanoscale footprint and broad frequency range. The reversed CR, which usually occurs in media with the negative refractive index or negative group-velocity ...

Kerr nonlinearity and group velocity dispersion of InGaAs/InP and GaAsSb/InP waveguides in the mid-infrared

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2023
We report measurements of Kerr nonlinearity and group velocity dispersion in In0.53Ga0.47As/InP and GaAs0.51Sb0.49/InP ridge waveguides in the mid-infrared using four-wave mixing at λ ≈ 5 µm.

Silicon Microspheres for Super‐Planckian Light Sources in the Mid Infrared

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, 2023
AbstractSilicon microspheres with a diameter in the range of 2–3 micrometers constitute photonic nanocavities that emit light through their Mie resonances when heated at high temperatures. At 500–600 °C these microresonators show a particular mid‐infrared (MIR) emission dominated by the lowest order modes.

Modeling of Amplitude Squeezing in a Pump-Noise-Suppressed Interband Cascade Laser

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
A semi-classical rate equation model for the amplitude squeezing of mid-infrared interband cascade lasers is presented based on Green's function method.

Comparative Modeling of Infrared Fiber Lasers

open access: yesPhotonics, 2018
The modeling and design of fiber lasers facilitate the process of their practical realization. Of particular interest during the last few years is the development of lanthanide ion-doped fiber lasers that operate at wavelengths exceeding 2000 nm.

Observations of Massive Star Forming Regions with Water Masers: Mid-Infrared Imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We present here a mid-infrared imaging survey of 26 sites of water maser emission. Observations were obtained at the InfraRed Telescope Facility 3-m telescope with the University of Florida mid-infrared imager/spectrometer OSCIR, and the JPL mid-infrared

Mid-Infrared Multi-Species Trace Gas Sensing using a Supercontinuum Light Source [PDF]

open access: yes2019 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC), 2019
The detection of gas-phase molecular species at low concentration levels is an attractive research field, supporting a wide variety of industrial, environmental, and biological applications. Among various types of detection methods, mid-infrared (MIR) laser absorption spectroscopy provides a unique opportunity for selective and sensitive detection by ...

Mid-infrared electronic wavelength tuning through intracavity difference-frequency mixing in Cr:ZnSe lasers

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Mid-infrared tunable coherent light sources are used in various laser applications, such as trace gas detection, laser processing, and biomedical diagnostics. This study demonstrates mid-infrared generation in the 8.3–11 µm (i.e., 900–1200 cm−1) spectral
