Utility of dansyl chloride for the establishment of a sensitive spectrofluorimetric approach for estimating midodrine hydrochloride: application to content uniformity testing

open access: yesRSC Advances, 2023
A new, straightforward spectrofluorimetric approach with high sensitivity was established for determining midodrine hydrochloride based on derivatizing this drug through its reaction with 5-(dimethylamino)naphthalene-1-sulfonyl chloride (dansyl chloride).

Fludrocortisone Is Associated With a Higher Risk of All‐Cause Hospitalizations Compared With Midodrine in Patients With Orthostatic Hypotension

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2017
BackgroundOrthostatic hypotension causes ≈80 000 hospitalizations per year in the United States. Treatments for orthostatic hypotension include fludrocortisone, a mineralocorticoid analog that promotes sodium reabsorption; and midodrine, an α‐1 ...

Clinical trial of home blood pressure monitoring following midodrine administration in hypotensive individuals with spinal cord injury

open access: yesJournal of Spinal Cord Medicine (JSCM), 2023
Background Individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) above thoracic level-6 (T6) experience impaired descending cortical control of the autonomic nervous system which predisposes them to blood pressure (BP) instability, including includes hypotension ...

Treatment of Vasovagal Syncope Associated with Asystole: Literature Review and Case Report of Long-term Follow-up

open access: yesРациональная фармакотерапия в кардиологии, 2021
Vasovagal syncope (VVS) can occur in every third of human population. Clinical symptoms of VVS areas a result of arterial hypotension with critical global cerebral hypoperfusion due to vasodilatation and bradicardia.

Role of Midodrine on Vasopressor Duration in Patients with Sepsis

open access: yesJournal of Shock and Hemodynamics, 2023
Existing literature evaluating the off-label use of midodrine has focused primarily on postoperative hypotensive patients requiring a single vasopressor.

Effect of midodrine on HVPG in advanced chronic liver disease and acute‐on‐chronic liver failure—A pilot study

open access: yesLiver international (Print)
Nonselective beta‐blockers (NSBB) are the mainstay for treatment of portal hypertension (PH), but require caution in decompensated cirrhosis (DC) or acute‐on‐chronic liver failure (ACLF) with hypotension, hyponatremia, acute kidney injury (AKI) or type 2

Midodrine therapy for vasopressor dependent shock in the intensive care unit: a protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesBMJ Open, 2022
Introduction Intensive care unit (ICU) lengths of stay are modified by ongoing need for haemodynamic support in critically ill patients. This is most commonly provided by intravenous vasopressor therapy.

Human hypoxia models in aerospace medicine: Potential applications for human pharmacological research

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aerospace medicine required controlled terrestrial models to investigate influences of altered atmosphere conditions, such as hypoxia, on human health and performance. These models could potentially be expanded to encompass disease conditions or treatment targets regulated through hypoxia or hypercapnia.

Use of oral midodrine for weaning off norepinephrine in patients with septic shock

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Critical Care Medicine
Background Early administration of norepinephrine in septic shock patients is linked to better survival rates. However, vasopressor dependence often occurs during the recovery phase, delaying ICU discharge. Objectives A comparative study was conducted on
