Abstract The action of macrophage migration inhibitory factor in fetal calf serum (FCS-MIF) was inhibited by l-fucose and by blood group substances and bovine submaxillary mucin, both of which contain l-fucose. FCS-MIF agglutinated human erythrocytes and guinea pig peritoneal exudate macrophages.

Cellular Immunology, 1979
Abstract Guinea pig lymph node lymphocytes and human peripheral blood lymphocytes when stimulated by specific antigen or mitogen will release factors that affect in vitro macrophage migration. Migration inhibition factor production appears to be under the control of suppressor cells which are T lymphocytes.

Migration Inhibition Factor (MIF) and Migration Stimulation Factor (MSF) in Fetal Calf Serum
The Journal of Immunology, 1974Abstract Non-heat-inactivated fetal calf serum contains a factor, FCS-MIF, that inhibits in vitro the migration of guinea pig peritoneal macrophages. FCS-MIF is partially or completely inactivated by dialysis, repeated freezing and thawing, heating to 56°C for 30 min, and changes of pH beyond the range of 6.0 to 7.7.

Factors influencing epidural catheter migration
Anaesthesia, 1992Summary The incidence and amount of migration of epidural catheters was investigated in a prospective randomised study of 153 women who required analgesia in labour. Inward or outward migration occurred in 36% of patients. Inward migration by 1–3 cm occurred in 21 (13.7%) patients and outward migration by 1 cm or more occurred in 34 ...

Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor in Cancer
Cancer Investigation, 2007The objective of this study was to investigate the expression of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) in patients with colorectal cancer (GIS) and malignant melanoma (MM). The study group consists of pathologically verified colorectal cancer (n = 63) and malignant melanoma (n = 65) patients and healthy controls (n = 25).

Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor in Uveitis
International Ophthalmology Clinics, 2002To summarize, we found that high levels of MIF were detected in the serum of uveitis patients with Behçet's disease, VKH disease, and sarcoidosis, as well as idiopathic iridocyclitis. In Behçet's disease and sarcoidosis, the MIF levels were higher in the active uveitis stage than in the inactive stage.

The Distance Factor in Migration
Social Forces, 1940presented in Table i, reveal that relatively fewer persons were in the younger age groups of the sample but more persons were in the age groups I5-44 and 65 and over. This age differential might largely reflect the ageing of the general population during the nine-year interval. In citing these comparisons, it is contended neither that they are the best

Migration inhibitory factors and macrophage differentiation
Springer Seminars in Immunopathology, 1984It has been described before that only certain types of macrophages are capable to respond to lymphokines and that only certain macrophage phenotypes were able to migrate and to respond to migration inhibitory factors (MIF). With respect to the dissociation of MIF activities from a series of other biological activities, and with regard to the phenotype-

Kinship as a Factor in Migration
Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1973Focusing on a nineteenth century frontier community which provides remarkably complete documentation from its founding in 1857, this study analyzes the role of kinship and family structure in determining migration patterns. Part One details the demographic profile of the community.
