Ethanol Intoxication in Calves Fed Certain Milk Replacers
Abstract A condition is described in young calves which is caused by fermentation of dietary carbohydrate to ethanol and characterized by high plasma ethanol, depression, poor body coordination, anorexia, and an unusual odor of exhaled air. Incidence of the condition in one experiment was high when calves were fed rations containing glucose or ...

Inspired by the skin‐toughening mechanism of marine sponges, an ion‐orchestrated structural engineering strategy is proposed to regulate the surface microstructure of hydrogel coatings, enabling the in situ formation of a robust armor layer that enhances mechanical integrity and provides multifunctional protection by suppressing fouling attachment and ...

Digestibility of total and phytate phosphorus in young calves
Two experiments were conducted to determine digestibility of total and phytate phosphorus (P) in young calves. In the 1st experiment 14 male calves received a commercial milk replacer (6 l of milk per day) and had free access to a starter concentrate. In

A flexible hybrid patch integrating a robust cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) system with a high‐power, ultrathin bio‐OLED was developed to enable synergistic wound healing. This multimodal therapy, combining plasma and photodynamic treatment, enhanced angiogenesis, cell proliferation, and collagen deposition, demonstrating superior in vivo efficacy and ...

Diarrhoea scores and weight changes in response to artificial milk supplementation or use of solulyte-neomycin solution in preweaning piglets [PDF]
The objective of this study was to determine the effects of supplemental milk replacer and solulyte-neomix solution in preweaning piglets. A total of 199 five-day-old piglets from 22litters were available for this three-week study.

Varying Levels of Starch in Calf Milk Replacers
Abstract Starch replaced varying amounts of lactose in milk replacers fed to Holstein calves by nipple pail as the only source of nutrients in three trials. Trial 1 was a growth trial involving 28 heifers. Amylopectin comprised 0, 9, 18, and 27% of solids in the replacer. Daily gains (3 to 45 days) for the respective treatments averaged 0.50, 0.45, 0.

Mechanical and Electrical Phenotype of hiPSC‐Cardiomyocytes on Fibronectin‐Based Hydrogels
We introduce fibronectin‐based PEG hydrogels with controlled rigidity to enable the culture of iPSC‐derived cardiomyocytes. These substrates offer an alternative to the current culture of these cells on fibronectin‐coated glass, providing enhanced structural and functional behavior. The system provides a more physiologically relevant platform to assess

Few‐layered three dimansional conductive graphene foams are promising cytocompatible platforms to transdifferentiate mesenchymal stem cells into Schwann cell‐like phenotypes using electrical and microstructural cues. Applied electrical stimulation conditions resulted in activation of MAPK, neurotrphin and RAS signaling pathways that led to upregulation
