Extracellular Vesicles Modulation by an Adiponectin Receptor Agonist Provides Cardioprotection for Myocardial Ischemic Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that ALY688, a drug mimicking the heart‐protective hormone adiponectin, reduces myocardial ischemia injury. ALY688 increases the production of extracellular vesicles, which carry protective cargo including adiponectin itself.

Respiratory Organ‐on‐a‐Chip for Disease Modeling: From Architecture to Functional Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Respiratory organ‐on‐a‐chip (ROC) models capture key mechanical and cellular cues of the human respiratory system, enabling quantitative dissection of disease mechanisms. This review links ROC architectures to disease modeling, functional integration, and commercialization, and proposes a decision framework that aligns model complexity with mechanistic

A Hybrid High-Order method for Leray-Lions elliptic equations on general meshes

open access: yes, 2016
In this work, we develop and analyze a Hybrid High-Order (HHO) method for steady non-linear Leray-Lions problems. The proposed method has several assets, including the support for arbitrary approximation orders and general polytopal meshes.

Shellac‐Mediated Assembly of Nanoparticles for mRNA Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A shellac‐mediated nanoparticle assembly strategy is presented, involving the complexation of mRNA and low‐molecular‐weight cationic molecules (e.g., polyethyleneimine, chitosan, lipids, and poly‐l‐lysine), followed by capping with shellac. This nanoparticle platform enables mRNA transfection following intravenous injection and facilitates gene editing

Mimetic desire and scapegoat mechanism in sport

open access: yesActa Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis. Gymnica, 2012
BACKGROUND: The most fundamental question about sport is what is sport, what is its origin and its essence? Because sport is connected with the human being (there is no sport without human beings) different anthropological visions of human being result ...

Radar Signal Sorting Method with Mimetic Image Mapping Based on Antenna Scan Pattern via SOLOv2 Network

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Aiming at the problems, in which the traditional radar signal sorting method has high requirements for manual experience and poor adaptability, and considering the differences in received power caused by radar beam scanning under long-term observation ...

A Higher-Order Formulation of the Mimetic Finite Difference Method

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, 2008
A new mimetic finite difference method for the diffusion problem is developed by using a linear interpolation for the numerical fluxes. This approach provides a higher-order accurate approximation to the flux of the exact solution. In analogy with the original formulation, a family of local scalar products is constructed to satisfy the fundamental ...

Physicochemical Reinforcement Unlocks Sterilization‐Stable Anisotropic Hydrogels for Cell‐Compatible Mock Arteries

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In vitro arterial models offer ethical and robust alternatives for vascular research but require cytocompatible materials that replicate physiological mechanics. Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogels produced by directional freezing and salting‐out (PVA DFSO) are anisotropic yet lack stability for cell culture. Herein, methacrylated PVA (PVA‐MA)

Energy conditions in mimetic-$f(R)$ gravity

open access: yes, 2017
The energy conditions of mimetic-$f(R)$ gravity theory is analyzed. We will obtain the parameter space of the theory in some special forms of $f(R)$ in which the self-acceleration is allowed.
