Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Validation of a Mimic Heart Failure Model
Introduction: Animal models which mimic the clinical characteristics of heart failure (HF) with dyssynchrony play a critical role in development of new therapies. Existing HF animal models created by left bundle branch block (LBBB), rapid pacing, or microembolization alone or in combinations only mimic partial HF characteristics and are time-costuming ...

SIZE AND IMPLICATION OF UNDERGROUND ECONOMY IN ROMANIA - A MIMIC APPROACH [PDF]
Since the economic crisis affected the real economy in Romania, the official GDPdeclined by almost 5 percent in 2009 compared with 2008, 1.3 percent in 2010 against the previousyear and unemployment increased too.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

An Animal Model That Mimics Human Herpesvirus 6B Pathogenesis
Human herpesvirus 6B (HHV-6B) is a ubiquitous virus that establishes lifelong latent infection only in humans, and the infection can reactivate, with severe complications that cause major problems. A small-animal model of HHV-6B infection has thus been desired for research regarding the pathogenicity of HHV-6B and the development of ...

MIMIC; An Applied General Equilibrium model for The Netherlands [PDF]
MIMIC is CPB’s applied general equilibrium model for the Dutch economy. The model is designed to help Dutch policymakers investigate the structural labormarket implications of changes in the systems of taxation and social insurance. MIMIC combines a rich

In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Background The multiple-indicator, multiple-cause model (MIMIC) incorporates covariates of interest in the factor analysis. It is a special case of structural equation modeling (SEM), which is modeled under latent variable framework.
