Effect of Simulated Transport Conditions on Microbiological Properties of Bottled Natural Mineral Water [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Bottled mineral water is distributed globally through complex supply chains, making it available far beyond its bottling plants. In low-viscosity food matrices, invisible changes may occur due to shaking.

Natural Bone‐Derived Ceramic Scaffolds Functionalized with Chitosan‐Gold, Chitosan‐Magnesium, and Chitosan‐Zinc for Enhanced Antibacterial Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the development of antibacterial ceramic scaffolds derived from natural bovine bone. The bones were processed through sequential boiling and hydrogen peroxide treatment to remove organic matter, producing porous, mineral‐rich scaffolds.

Health Effects of Demineralization Drinking Water [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Reduced mineral intake due to drinking demineralized water is not automatically corrected by one's diet. Early symptoms of low electrolyte levels include tiredness, weakness, headache, brain edema, and convulsions. Metabolic acidosis has been reported in

RNA hydrolysis at mineral-water interfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The adsorption of DNA at mineral-water interfaces is well-established to increase its persistence in soils and sediments; however, adsorbed RNA in similar environments degrades rapidly, in some cases outpacing solution-phase degradation occurring over ...

A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

Assessment of natural radioactivity in bottled mineral water from Brazil

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences, 2022
The approach taken in the WHO Guidelines for controlling radiological hazards in public water supplies has two stages. The first is an initial screening for gross alpha and beta activity to determine whether the activity concentrations are below levels ...

Mineral composition of drinking water and daily uptake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Conductivity in mS/m or S/cm gives a rough idea of the amount of dissolved ions in water. Distilled water and reverse osmosis–treated water have extremely low conductivity, while the conductivity of water from sandstone is higher and that of water from ...

Active Corrosion Protection of Sintered AA7075 Aluminum Alloy via Mn Powder Addition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
AA7075 containing Mn‐rich particles is fabricated via spark plasma sintering using AA7075 and Mn powders. Corrosion resistance is evaluated through dip‐and‐dry tests using 0.1 M NaCl (pH 6.0), and mass loss decreases with increasing Mn addition. Mn‐rich particles function as a source of Mn ions, and formation of Mn‐accumulation films on Cu‐containing ...
