Chromatin Structure: Deduced from a Minichromosome
Science, 1975Cells lytically infected with simian virus 40 contain viral DNA in the form of very small chromosomes (minichromosomes) segmented into 100-A lengths, each segment containing about 200 base pairs of DNA. This form resembles that of eukaryotic chromosomes and is consistent with the model of chromatin structure proposed recently.

The Cauliflower Mosaic Virus Minichromosome
1983Plant viruses which contain DNA genomes have recently gained popularity as potential vehicles for introducing foreign DNA into plants (reviewed by Howell, 1982; Hohn et al., 1982). The most intensively studied of these DNA viruses is cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) which contains a double-stranded DNA genome of about 8 kilobases.

Engineered Minichromosome Technology in Plants
2015Engineered minichromosomes have been produced in plants using telomere-mediated truncation that cleaves chromosome arms and simultaneously places desired transgenes linked to an endogenous centromere. Proof-of-concept experiments have been successful, illustrating that site-specific recombination can occur at terminal sites on the chromosome and that ...
