Equivalents of Certain Minimal Element Principles

open access: yes, 2023
In this article, by applying our 2023 Metatheorem in ordered fixed point theory, we obtain various MinimalElement Principles with their equivalent formulations to existence theorems on minimal elements, commonfixed points, common stationary points, and others. Some known theorems and new ones appear in suchequivalents.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Efficient finite element methods for aircraft engine noise prediction

open access: yes, 2014
Aircraft noise has a negative environmental impact. One of the ways in which it can be mitigated is by placing acoustic liners inside the aircraft's engines. These liners can be optimised for noise reduction.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

How does endodontic access cavity design affect the biomechanics of a maxillary premolar?? a finite element analysis study

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Background The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different endodontic access cavity designs on biomechanical properties of endodontically treated maxillary premolars under various static loads by finite element analysis method.

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Mathematical and Numerical Analysis of a Pair of Coupled Cahn-Hilliard Equations with a Logarithmic Potential [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Mathematical and numerical analysis has been undertaken for a pair of coupled Cahn-Hilliard equations with a logarithmic potential and with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. This pair of coupled equations arises in a phase separation model of thin

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Stable splitting of bivariate spline spaces by Bernstein-Bézier methods

open access: yes, 2012
We develop stable splitting of the minimal determining sets for the spaces of bivariate C1 splines on triangulations, including a modified Argyris space, Clough-Tocher, Powell-Sabin and quadrilateral macro-element spaces.
