[en] In the present work we define the concept of Minimal Surface and prove some important results related to it. To begin with, we review some elementary definitions and results of differential geometry. Then, we study normal variations of curves and surfaces and solve some optimisation problems as examples of this techniques.

Minimal surfaces in AdS C-metric
We shed some light on the field theory interpretation of C-metric by investigating the minimal surfaces which are homologous to the given boundary regions. The accelerating black holes change the asymptotic structure of the space–time.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

This paper analyzes the surface quality characteristics, such as arithmetic average roughness (Ra), maximum peak-to-valley height (Rt), and average peak-to-valley height (Rz), in hard turning of AISI 52100 steel using a (TiN/TiCN/Al2O3) coated carbide ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Metric-minimizing surfaces revisited [PDF]
A surface which does not admit a length nonincreasing deformation is called metric minimizing. We show that metric minimizing surfaces in CAT(0) spaces are locally CAT(0) with respect to their intrinsic metric.

Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.
