A systematic review of sevoflurane and isoflurane minimum alveolar concentration in domestic cats.
Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, 2014OBJECTIVE The purpose of this systematic review is to summarize the results of studies which have determined the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of isoflurane and sevoflurane in domestic cats. STUDY DESIGN Systematic review.

The effects of ketamine on the minimum alveolar concentration of isoflurane in cats
Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, 2007To determine the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of isoflurane during the infusion of ketamine.Prospective, experimental trial.Twelve adult spayed female cats weighing 5.1 +/- 0.9 kg.Six cats were anesthetized with isoflurane in oxygen, intubated and attached to a circle-breathing system with mechanical ventilation.

Flumazenil Decreases the Minimum Alveolar Concentration of Isoflurane in Dogs
Anesthesiology, 1989Flumazenil is a potent-specific benzodiazepine receptor antagonist that has been shown to reverse CNS depressant effects mediated by benzodiazepine agonists. These agonists are known to affect the interaction of gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) with its receptor.

Cardiopulmonary bypass reduces the minimum alveolar concentration for isoflurane
Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, 2004The purpose of this investigation was to determine the influence of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) on the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of isoflurane in a rat model of CPB.Prospective.University research laboratory.Sprague-Dawley rats.Using tail-clamp methodology, the pre- and post-CPB MAC for isoflurane was studied.Rats were anesthetized with ...

Effect of alfentanil on the minimum alveolar concentration of isoflurane in cats
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1997SUMMARY Objective To evaluate effect of incremental doses of alfentanil on isoflurane minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) in cats to determine whether alfentanil reduces isoflurane MAC and, if so, maximal isoflurane MAC reduction. Animals 6 healthy spayed female cats.

The Minimum Alveolar Concentration of Xenon in the Elderly Is Sex-dependent
Anesthesiology, 2002Background The minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of xenon in the elderly has not been determined. Moreover, because xenon inhibits the activity of the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors, and because N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonists such as ketamine and MK-801 exert sex-dependent actions, we hypothesized that the MAC of ...

Minimum alveolar concentration and lipid solubility
2006Minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) is defined as such a concentration of a volatile anaesthetic agent that produces immobility in 50% of experimental animals subjected to a standardized noxious stimulus. It resembles ED 50 for intravenous drugs, and serves the same purpose: comparison of the potencies of various drugs.
