NIMODIPINE DECREASES THE MINIMUM ALVEOLAR CONCENTRATION OF ISOFLURANE IN DOGS [PDF]

open access: yesAnesthesia & Analgesia, 1990
Nimodipine is a calcium antagonist that binds with high affinity to neuronal membranes. It is a potent cerebrovasodilator and has been demonstrated also to affect neurotransmitter synthesis and release. Because patients undergoing surgery for intracranial aneurysms are frequently receiving nimodipine, the authors determined the MAC of isoflurane in six

Is Greater Than 0.5 MAC Inhalational Agent Use Post-Bypass Related to Need for Inotropic and/or Vasoconstrictor Support?

open access: yesHearts, 2021
Background and Aims: We hypothesized that maintaining a patient on moderate–high doses of potent inhalational agent for greater than 30 min during the post-bypass period would be an independent predictor of initiation and usage of either inotropic and/or

Does trazodone reduce anaesthetic agent requirement in dogs?

open access: yesVeterinary Evidence, 2022
PICO question In dogs undergoing anaesthesia, does the use of oral trazodone given 2 hours before induction of anaesthesia reduce injectable or inhalant anaesthetic agent requirements?

Effect of single-dose dexmedetomidine on postoperative recovery after ambulatory ureteroscopy and ureteric stenting: a double blind randomized controlled study

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2018
Background Ambulatory surgery has recently gain popularity, as it is a good method of optimizing hospital resources utilization. To support ambulatory surgery, anaesthetic goals now revolve around patients’ early recovery with minimal pain and nausea ...

Repeated Administration of the Cannabinoid WIN Alters the Isoflurane-Sparing Effect of Morphine and Dexmedetomidine

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences, 2023
The impacts of morphine and dexmedetomidine on the MAC of isoflurane were studied in rats constantly medicated with the cannabinoid WIN 55,212-2. Methods: Prior to the administration of morphine, the MAC was measured in both untreated rats (MAC (ISO ...

Simultaneous inhibition of TRIM24 and TRIM28 sensitises prostate cancer cells to antiandrogen therapy, decreasing VEGF signalling and angiogenesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRIM24 and TRIM28 are androgen receptor (AR) coregulators which exhibit increased expression with cancer progression. Both TRIM24 and TRIM28 combine to influence the response of castrate‐resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) cells to AR inhibitors by mediating AR signalling, regulation of MYC and upregulating VEGF to promote angiogenesis. Castrate‐resistant

MINIMUM ALVEOLAR CONCENTRATION OF SEVOFLURANE IN ELDERLY PATIENTS

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 1993
We have determined the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) for sevoflurane in elderly patients (mean age 71.4 yr). MAC was found to be 1.48 (SEM 0.08)%, which is smaller than the values for children and adults. The magnitude of the change in MAC with age is similar to that for halothane and isoflurane. The calculated anesthetic ED95 for preventing 95%

Forskolin Enhances Urokinase Plasminogen Activator Secretion and Angiogenic Activity of Xeno‐Free Cultures of Human Adipose Tissue‐Derived Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The regenerative potential of adipose tissue‐derived stem cells can be enhanced through chemical stimulation in vitro. A short stimulation protocol using forskolin, either alone or in combination with other growth factors, under xeno‐free conditions enhanced the pro‐angiogenic responses in human ASCs.

MAC-Sparing Effect of Transdermal Fentanyl in Sevoflurane-Anesthetized Sheep

open access: yesActa Veterinaria, 2018
Transdermal fentanyl allows for consistent plasma concentrations of a potent synthetic μ-opioid receptor agonist and can provide constant post-operative analgesia for up to 72 h.
