Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Coherent DOA estimation based on low-rank matrix recovery with coprime arrays in nonuniform noise
In this paper, a novel low-rank matrix recovery-based direction of arrival estimation algorithm is proposed for coherent signals with coprime arrays under nonuniform noise conditions.

Minimum-rank matrices with prescribed graph
Let \(A=(a_{i,j})\) be an \(n\times n\) real symmetric matrix. For this matrix it is defined an indirected graph \(\Gamma(A)\) on \(n\) vertices \(1,2,\dots,n\) by including the unordered pair \((i,j)\), i.e., the edge joining vertex \(i\) to vertex \(j\) in the edge set, if and only if \(a_{i,j}\neq 0\).

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Rainbow Connectivity Using a Rank Genetic Algorithm: Moore Cages with Girth Six
A rainbow t-coloring of a t-connected graph G is an edge coloring such that for any two distinct vertices u and v of G there are at least t internally vertex-disjoint rainbow (u,v)-paths.

Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...
