Biomass Inertization to Increase Minimum Ignition Temperature

open access: yesJournal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 2023
In the past years, the use of biomass has significantly increased and, therefore, so has the number of accidents related to its storage, transport, and use. To prevent these accidents, it is essential to properly know their flammability and explosion characteristics so their behaviour can be addressed as a first stop for preventing accidents.

Minimum Net Driving Temperature Concept for Membrane Distillation [PDF]

open access: yesMembranes, 2020
In this study, we analyzed the heat requirement of membrane distillation (MD) to investigate the trade-off between the evaporation efficiency and driving force efficiency in a single effect MD system. We found that there exists a non-zero net driving temperature difference that maximizes efficiency.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Significantly lower summer minimum temperature warming trend on the southern Tibetan Plateau than over the Eurasian continent since the Industrial Revolution

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2019
Summer temperature dominates environmental degradation and water resource availability on the Tibetan Plateau (TP), affecting glacier melting, permafrost degradation, desertification and streamflow, etc.

Effects of meteorological variables on sugarcane ripening in the Cauca river valley, Colombia

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Tropical, 2020
Sugarcane ripening is conditioned by the interaction between biological factors of the crop and climate. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of some meteorological variables on the sucrose content, during the ripening period, in the Cauca river ...

The Relation between the Radial Temperature Profile in the Chromosphere and the Solar Spectrum at Centimeter, Millimeter, Sub-millimeter, and Infrared Wavelengths

open access: yes, 2014
Solar observations from millimeter to ultraviolet wavelengths show that there is a temperature minimum between photosphere and chromosphere. Analysis based on semi-empirical models locate this point at about 500 km over the photosphere.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A nature of low-temperature resistivity minimum in ceramic manganites

open access: yes, 2000
Measurements of magnetoresistance and magnetization were carried out on ceramic samples of La_{0.5}Pb_{0.5}MnO_{3} and La_{0.5}Pb_{0.5}MnO_{3}, containing 10 at. % Ag in a dispersed form.

Study of minimum temperatures employing Markov chainsStudy of minimum temperatures employing Markov chains

open access: yesMAUSAM, 1990
Statistical analysis and prognosis is of minimum temperatures with reference to states-determining threshold values   employing also. Markov chains is   attempted for a citrus- growing area of Greece, In-state persistence and between-states transition probabilities of minimum temperatures are associated with common weather patterns.   ...
