Significantly lower summer minimum temperature warming trend on the southern Tibetan Plateau than over the Eurasian continent since the Industrial Revolution

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2019
Summer temperature dominates environmental degradation and water resource availability on the Tibetan Plateau (TP), affecting glacier melting, permafrost degradation, desertification and streamflow, etc.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

THE CHROMOSPHERIC SOLAR MILLIMETER-WAVE CAVITY ORIGINATES IN THE TEMPERATURE MINIMUM REGION [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present a detailed theoretical analysis of the local radio emission at the lower part of the solar atmosphere. To accomplish this, we have used a numerical code to simulate the emission and transport of high-frequency electromagnetic waves from 2 GHz

Effects of meteorological variables on sugarcane ripening in the Cauca river valley, Colombia

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Tropical, 2020
Sugarcane ripening is conditioned by the interaction between biological factors of the crop and climate. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of some meteorological variables on the sucrose content, during the ripening period, in the Cauca river ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Weekly minimum temperature at 2.5 arc-minutes

open access: yes, 2018
Raster brick of weekly minimum temperature calculated as the average of the daily minimum temperature (a total of 143 weeks between Jan 5, 2014 and Oct 1, 2016), in GRI format, at a resolution of 2.5 arc-minutes.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

α Centauri A in the far infrared*: First measurement of the temperature minimum of a star other than the Sun [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Context. Chromospheres and coronae are common phenomena on solar-type stars. Understanding the energy transfer to these heatedatmospheric layers requires direct access to the relevant empirical data.
