Tipo,minthostachys mollis (lamiaceae): an ecuadorian mint

Nineteen compounds are characterized by GC/MS and Kovats Indices in the oil of tipo,Minthostachys mollis Griseb., from Ecuador. The major compounds are29.34 ± 3.94% neomenthol, 24.00 ± 5.23% menthone, 20.55 ± 3.33% menthol, and 8.96 ± 1.65% piperitone.

ABSTRACT The essential oil obtained by water distillation from the leaves of Minthostachys mollis was analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Twenty-eight components were identified which constituted 95% of the oil. The major constituent is pulegone (75.2–79.3%).
