The objective of the study was to determine extraction variables in the volatile components, color, and use of the essential oil of Mintostachys mollis, an endemic plant species with a pleasant aroma. It was found between 2,500 to 3,000 meters above sea level in the province of Carchi - Ecuador.

Journal of Essential Oil Research, 1995ABSTRACT The essential oil obtained by water distillation from the leaves of Minthostachys mollis was analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Twenty-eight components were identified which constituted 95% of the oil. The major constituent is pulegone (75.2–79.3%).
