Optimizing Soil Properties Through Hydrogel and Sawdust Combinations for Better Plant Growth

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, Volume 189, Issue 1, Page 168-178, February 2026.
This graphical abstract illustrates the effects of various soil amendments on poplar cutting vitality under drought conditions, as observed using X‐ray computed tomography (CT). It compares soil alone, soil with sawdust, soil with hydrogel, and their combination, highlighting differences in internal structure, water retention, and root development.

Taxonomic investigation of Abrothallus (Abrothallales, Ascomycota) species associated with lichen genera Ramalina and Bryoria, including the description of a new species

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2026, Issue 2, February 2026.
The obligately lichenicolous genus Abrothallus consists of approximately 50 species, almost all of which are associated with lichens having foliose, fruticose, or pendulous thalli. This paper focuses on species that grow on strap lichens (Ramalina) providing new insights into their phylogenetic relationships and distribution.

The Arabidopsis Mutant of the Small Intrinsically Disordered Protein DSS1(V) Exhibits Increased Sensitivity to Drought Stress

open access: yesPlant Direct, Volume 10, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Drought has emerged as one of the most severe and widespread environmental stresses affecting plants. Crops exposed to varying levels of drought, ranging from moderate to severe, often experience notable declines in yield or reduced harvest quality.

Alloying Strategies for Secondary Hardening in High‐Boron Cold Work Tool Steels: A Comparative Study

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 2, Page 731-743, February 2026.
The influence of tungsten, vanadium, manganese, and silicon on the microstructure and tempering behavior of high boron tool steels is investigated. It is shown that tungsten contributes very little, whereas vanadium leads to tempering carbides, detected by atom probe tomography. Manganese and silicon enable solid solution strengthening. A high hardness

Heat and Tectonics of the Canadian Cordillera From the Seismically Constrained Inversion of Gravity Data

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract An updated approach to seismically constrained modeling of gravity data reveals two broad, NW‐trending low‐density zones in the mantle lithosphere beneath the Canadian Cordillera. The low‐density zones coincide with a shallow lithosphere‐asthenosphere boundary (LAB), a shallow Curie‐point depth, and the location of Quaternary volcanoes.
