Phospholipid synthesis in rat liver mitochondria

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1969
Abstract 1. 1. Synthesis of phospholipids in isolated rat liver mitochondria was studied by measuring the incorporation into mitochondrial lipids of glycerol 3-[32P]phosphate and [14C]palmitic acid. 2. 2. Both precursors were incorporated chiefly into phosphatidic acid.

Choline transport into rat liver mitochondria

Biochemical Society Transactions, 1992
In mammals, oxidation of choline to betaine occurs within the mitochondria. Choline is firstly oxidized to betaine aldehyde by a n FAD-linked choline dehydrogenase (EC 2.2.9.91) situated on the innerside of the inner mitochondrial membrane (1). This enzyme has high activity in liver and kidney of rats (2, 3).

Mitochondria in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

Clinics in Liver Disease, 2004
Nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) is associated with fundamental issues of fat metabolism and insulin resistance. These abnormalities have been linked to impairment of ATP homeostasis, and a growing body of literature has reported mitochondrial abnormalities in various forms of hepatic steatosis.

Ethanol oxidation in rat-liver mitochondria

Chemico-Biological Interactions, 1969
Abstract (1) Ethanol is oxidized only slowly in rat-liver mitochondria. Addition of NAD, however, increases the oxidation rate to the level of the pyruvate oxidation. (2) Pyrazole, rotenone, antimycin A, and oligomycin are inhibitors of the mitochondrial ethanol oxidation. (3) The oxidation is dependent on the presence of ADP.

Phosphate transport in rat-liver mitochondria

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1971
Abstract 1. The kinetics of the efflux of P i and malate as well as the relationship between P i transport and intra- and extramitochondrial pH changes were studied in rat-liver mitochondria in the presence of rotenone and oligomycin at different pH's. 2.

Proline transport in rat liver mitochondria

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1977
Abstract Proline transport across the inner membrane of rat liver mitochondria shows the following properties: (a) It is stereospecific; the penetration of l -proline is two times faster than the penetration of dl -proline. (b) Proline is accumulated against a concentration gradient, (c) The transport of proline is enhanced in the presence of ...

ATPase activity of rat liver mitochondria

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1957
Abstract 1. 1. ATPase and oxidative phosphorylation were studied in rat liver mitochondria prepared in a medium consisting chiefly of 0.9% KCl. The aerobic rate of ATP hydrolysis was calculated from the rate of 32 P incorporation into ATP under steady state conditions of oxidative phosphorylation.
