Microglia Mitochondria Support Neuronal Maturation via Metabolic and Transcriptional Reprogramming in Human 3D In Vitro Brain Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
xx xx. ABSTRACT Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by disrupted neuronal circuit maturation. Emerging evidence implicates microglial function and mitochondrial regulation as contributors to ASD‐associated biology, yet the mechanisms linking these processes to neuronal development remain poorly defined ...

Mitochondrial Membrane Potential Assay

2022
Mitochondrial function, a key indicator of cell health, can be assessed through monitoring changes in mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP). Cationic fluorescent dyes are commonly used tools to assess MMP. We used a water-soluble mitochondrial membrane potential indicator (m-MPI) to detect changes in MMP in various types of cells, such as HepG2 ...

Longevity and mitochondrial membrane potential

Biochemistry (Moscow), 2012
In Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast cells a decrease in the mitochondrial membrane potential caused by protonophores or by a loss of mitochondrial DNA leads to an increase in longevity (replicative life span). The loss of mitochondrial DNA also activates retrograde signaling that results in certain changes in transcription. Recently, Miceli and coauthors

Mitochondrial membrane potentials in ischemic hearts

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 2003
Excised rat hearts were perfused isovolumically and then made globally ischemic for times varying from 0 to 70 min followed by 50 min of reperfusion. In situ mitochondrial electrical potential gradients (Deltapsi(m)) were measured during reperfusion using the lipophilic cation, 3H-tetraphenylphosphonium.

Probing mitochondrial membrane potential

C&EN Global Enterprise, 2020
Mitochondrial membrane potential, an indicator of mitochondrial function, is perturbed in many diseases , including cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, but difficult to measure noninvasively.
