A Radioactive in vitro ERK3 Kinase Assay
Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) are serine/threonine kinases that have an important role in signal transduction. Extracellular signal-regulated kinase 3 (ERK3), also known as MAPK6, is an atypical MAPK.

Structural Mechanism for the Specific Assembly and Activation of the Extracellular Signal Regulated Kinase 5 (ERK5) Module [PDF]
Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) activation depends on a linear binding motif found in all MAPK kinases (MKK). In addition, the PB1 (Phox and Bem1) domain of MKK5 is required for extracellular signal regulated kinase 5 (ERK5) activation.

Activation of mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase by a MAP kinase-kinase.
Previously it has been shown that acute 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate treatment of intact U937 cells results in activation of mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase and a MAP kinase activator. MAP kinase activator induces phosphorylation of MAP kinase on tyrosine and threonine residues, thereby activating MAP kinase.

Histone Deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) in Ciliopathies: Emerging Insights and Therapeutic Implications
HDAC6 regulates primary cilia, crucial for cellular signalling and environmental responses. Dysregulation of HDAC6 contributes to ciliopathies, affecting multiple organs. This review examines HDAC6's role in ciliogenesis, its interaction with signaling molecules, and its potential as a therapeutic target.

.: Oxidative stress is considered a major mediator of arteriosclerosis. In vascular smooth muscle cells, oxidative stress–induced cell death (including apoptosis) is probably related to arterial calcification in arteriosclerosis.

Transcriptional landscape of SARS-CoV-2 infection dismantles pathogenic pathways activated by the virus, proposes unique sex-specific differences and predicts tailored therapeutic strategies [PDF]
The emergence of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) disease (COVID-19) has posed a serious threat to global health. As no specific therapeutics are yet available to control disease evolution, more in-depth understanding of the pathogenic mechanisms induced by SARS-CoV-2 will help to characterize new targets for the ...

Cai et al. report that tumor‐derived lactate induces NUPR1 expression via H3K18 lactylation, which can promote the pro‐tumor M2 macrophage polarization through ERK and JNK signaling pathways. Treatment with NUPR1 selective inhibitor sensitizes synergizes with anti‐PD‐1 therapy in murine preclinical models.

Defensins are antimicrobial peptides composed of 3 conserved disulfide bridges, a β-sheet, and both hydrophobic and cationic amino acids. In this study, we aimed to demonstrate the immunomodulation role of avian β-defensin 8 (AvBD8) in a chicken ...
