Wee1 kinase differentially regulates maize CDKA2;1a and CDKB1;1

In eukaryotes, Wee1 kinase inhibits the kinase activity of CDK/Cyc complexes through phosphorylation of a conserved residue in the CDK moiety. Wee1 is also present in plants, but has been scarcely studied. We have studied maize Wee1 regulation of CDKA/CycD2;2a or CDKB/CycD2;2a complexes.

TRIM32 controls timely cell cycle exit in muscular differentiation through downregulation of c‐Myc mRNA

Trim32 regulates the transition from proliferation to differentiation in C2C12 cells after myogenic induction. We found that, at the onset of differentiation, Trim32 destabilizes c‐Myc mRNA, promotes cell cycle exit, and enables normal myotube formation.

Updates and controversies in contemporary grading of clear cell renal cell carcinoma and papillary renal cell carcinoma

New concepts, innovations and some issues have emerged since the adoption a decade ago of WHO/ISUP grading for CCRCC and PRCC. Continued use of the WHO/ISUP grading for CCRCC and PRCC has been upheld by newer studies, and practice guidance for some of the grading issues, where data are available, is provided.

UK recommendations for Ki‐67 immunohistochemical staining and interpretation in breast cancer

Where possible, a validated digital imaging system should be utilized. If this is not available, then intermediate scores (5%–30%) should be thoroughly assessed using the Ki‐67 International Working Group guidance. Difficult cases should be double scored.

Whole‐slide analysis of mitotic activity in melanoma reveals higher‐proliferation hotspots and distinct spatial patterns

Whole‐slide analysis of melanoma identified higher‐proliferation mitotic hotspots than routine pathology assessment and revealed distinct spatial patterns of mitotic organization, highlighting the potential of computational mitosis mapping to provide insights beyond conventional mitotic counting.

ATXR5 and ATXR6 restrict meiotic crossover formation within heterochromatin in Arabidopsis

The Arabidopsis H3K27 mono‐methyltransferases ATXR5 and ATXR6 repress crossovers within meiotic heterochromatin, are required for heterochromatin condensation and H3K27me1 establishment, and specifically influence the maintenance of DNA methylation in meiocytes.
