We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Linear Mixed Models: Gum and Beyond
In Annex H.5, the Guide to the Evaluation of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM) [1] recognizes the necessity to analyze certain types of experiments by applying random effects ANOVA models.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

How to become twice more precise in detecting neuropsychological impairments
Introduction Although it was a giant leap forward when it was introduced, the classic approach to the norming of neuropsychological tests (Capitani, 1987) has two main limitations: (i) it doesn’t consider possible interactions between covariates (e.g ...

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

One Direction? A Tutorial for Circular Data Analysis Using R With Examples in Cognitive Psychology
Circular data is data that is measured on a circle in degrees or radians. It is fundamentally different from linear data due to its periodic nature (0° = 360°). Circular data arises in a large variety of research fields.

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
