COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Expanding the Scope of Molecular Mixed Crystals Enabled by Three Component Solid Solutions

open access: yes, 2015
Crystalline solid solutions (mixed crystals) formed from molecular compounds are a long-known class of multicomponent solids whose composition can be varied, at least in principle, in continuum.

New methods for the computer simulation of macromolecular liquid crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Molecular simulation of macromolecular liquid crystal (LC) systems has so far been limited by a number of factors: the large size of the molecules themselves and the fact that mesophase formation takes place on length and timescales that are not ...

Energetics of lipid bilayers with applications to deformations induced by inclusions

open access: yes, 2013
A new energy for the description of large deformations of lipid bilayers is formulated with mathematical rigor. This energy is derived by considering the smectic A liquid crystalline nature of lipid bilayers and the coupling between the deformations of ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Infrared absorption spectra of Ag3[PO4, VO4] mixed crystals

open access: yes, 1979
Ag3[PO4, VO4] mixed crystals were prepared in the whole concentration region. For 0-40 mol % vanadate, the mixed crystals are isostructural with the low-temperature modification of Ag3PO4 (Td4, Z = 2); the site group and factor group analysis was ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

design and development of a vibrating sample magnetometer for high magnetic field measurements of superconductors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
A Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) has been designed, constructed and developed. The design specification was for a VSM to work in magnetic fields up to 15T, and provide a variable temperature environment for the sample from 4.2K to 130K.

Modified photoreactivity due to mixed crystal formation. I. Three mixed crystals between isostructural cobaloxime complexes

open access: yes, 2002
Three crystals of 2-cyanoethyl cobaloxime complexes with 3-chloropyridine, 3-bromopyridine and 3-methylpyridine as axial base ligands are isostructural to one another.
