Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Surface roughness during depositional growth and sublimation of ice crystals [PDF]
Full version of an earlier discussion paper (Chou et al. 2018)Ice surface properties can modify the scattering properties of atmospheric ice crystals and therefore affect the radiative properties of mixed-phase and cirrus clouds.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Investigation of band gap width in mixed ZnSxSe1–x crystals
Scintillators based on ZnSxSe1–x are promising materials for X-ray and γ-ray detection. For optoelectronic devices, it is better to use semiconductor compounds with a direct-zone energy structure with its spectral range lying in the fundamental ...

Understanding the History of Two Complex Ice Crystal Habits Deduced From a Holographic Imager
The sizes and shapes of ice crystals influence the radiative properties of clouds, as well as precipitation initiation and aerosol scavenging. However, ice crystal growth mechanisms remain only partially characterized.

Molar volume of solid isotopic helium mixtures
Solid isotopic helium mixtures have been studied by path-integral Monte Carlo simulations in the isothermal-isobaric ensemble. This method allowed us to study the molar volume as a function of temperature, pressure, and isotopic composition.

Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Mixed Anthrone—Anthraquinone Crystals [PDF]
A THREE-DIMENSIONAL refinement of anthrone, C14H10O (recorded m.p. 154° C) by Srivastava1 has shown that it is isostructural with anthraquinone, C14H10O2 (recorded m.p. 286° C) (refs. 2 and 3). The unit-cell dimensions and other crystallographic data are: C14H10O, m.w.
