Abstract BACKGROUND Chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons such as trichloroethylene (TCE) are persistent groundwater contaminants due to improper disposal and low biodegradability. This work presents an innovative bioelectrochemical system for the integrated reductive/oxidative removal of TCE from contaminated water, implemented in a single tubular ...

Assessment of Restoring Chemically Damaged Hair Fibers Using Microscopy and Spectroscopy. ABSTRACT This paper analyses hair restoration products currently on the market that treat chemically processed hair. This study measured the restoration of structural integrity in hair samples from both chemically damaged hair (chemically relaxed, bleached, and ...

Integrated macroscopic, histological, and ultrastructural analyses revealed five distinct lingual papillae types (filiform, fungiform, conical, foliate, and vallate) in the Anatolian wild boar (Sus scrofa libycus). Mechanical papillae showed marked structural specialization, while gustatory papillae exhibited region‐specific distribution of taste buds.

We report the development and use of a transmission Raman spectroscopy (TRS) system for a more accurate but nonintrusive way of authentication of API in coated HCQ tablets which otherwise is not possible using the backscattered (BS) configuration of Raman spectroscopy. The coating interference is found to be almost zero in case of the TRS and a greater

Early Acitretin Therapy in a Patient With Harlequin Ichthyosis
ABSTRACT Harlequin ichthyosis (HI) is a rare, severe congenital disorder of keratinization caused by pathogenic variants in the ABCA12 gene resulting in thick, hyperkeratotic plates, deep fissures, and characteristic facial and limb abnormalities.

Gait alterations increase friction of degenerated articular cartilage: A tribological study
Abstract Purpose To investigate the effect of gait alterations associated with osteoarthritis (OA) on the frictional properties of porcine articular cartilage (AC) in intact and degenerative conditions. Methods Forty‐eight cylindrical AC samples were harvested from 12 porcine femur condyles and equally divided between four groups with n = 12 samples ...

AI Cracks Jokes: Building Consumer–Brand Closeness Through Machine‐Generated Humor
ABSTRACT Integrating AI led social cues into service encounters has become a key strategy for humanizing technology. Grounded in Social Penetration Theory, this research examines how AI‐generated humor styles (affiliative vs. self‐defeating) influence consumer brand identification and proposes consumer personality as a key moderator.

Mixed lubrication — an overview
Lubrication Science, 1997AbstractThe regime known as ‘mixed’ lubrication lies between those of hydrodynamic and elastohydrodynamic. This paper reviews work on this subject, in order to recognise the key areas of progress, and of ignorance. Film thickness and surface roughness are discussed, to conclude that below certain values of λ, there are limitations to earlier models ...

AbstractThis paper reviews recent research in mixed lubrication, focusing on the current understanding of lubricant entrainment, and thus film thickness, and of friction in thin‐film, rough‐surface lubricated contacts. By combining research using optical interferometry on the experimental side and numerical modelling on the theoretical side, we now ...

This paper presents a model for mixed lubrication. The surface asperities are represented by short plasto-elastic cylinders with spherical tops. The heights of these cylinders are assumed to have a Gaussian distribution. By combining the solution of the Reynolds equation and the solution from boundary lubrication theory or the microelastohydrodynamic ...
