Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Microporous mixed matrix (ZeoTIPS) membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
textRecent work in the areas of zeolite membranes and mixed matrix membranes have inspired the development of isotropic microporous mixed matrix (ZeoTIPS) membranes, consisting of high-selectivity zeolite particles suspended in a cellular, microporous ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Uremic Toxins Removal with Mixed Matrix Membranes Adsorbers (mmmas)

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2019
Mixed Matrix Membrane Adsorbers (MMMAs) based on Cellulose Acetate (CA) were prepared and tested for the removal of uremic toxins from spent dialysate aqueous streams from hemodialysis treatments. MMMAs were fabricated and modified with a natural zeolite,

Free Volume and Permeability of Mixed Matrix Membranes Made from a Terbutil-M-terphenyl Polyamide and a Porous Polymer Network

open access: yes, 2022
A set of thermally rearranged mixed matrix membranes (TR-MMMs) was manufactured and tested for gas separation. These membranes were obtained through the thermal treatment of a precursor MMM with a microporous polymer network and an o-hydroxypolyamide ...

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Studies on as separation behaviour of polymer blending PI/PES hybrid mixed membrane: Effect of polymer concentration and zeolite loading

open access: yesInternational Journal of Science and Engineering, 2014
This study is performed primarily to investigate the effect of polymer concentration of polyimide/polyethersulfone (PI/PES) blending on the gas separation performance of hybrid mixed matrix membrane.

Advanced Cellulose Triacetate-Based Mixed Matrix Membranes Enhanced by Bimetallic Ni-Cu-BTC MOFs for CO2/CH4 Separation. [PDF]

open access: yesPolymers (Basel)
Cu-BTC (HKUST-1) metal–organic framework (MOF) is widely recognized for its carbon capture capability due to its unsaturated copper sites, high surface area, and well-defined porous structure.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
