More Tickets, Fewer Accidents: How Cash-Strapped Towns Make for Safer Roads [PDF]

open access: yes
Traffic accidents are one of the leading causes of injury and death in the U.S. The role of traffic law enforcement in the reduction of accidents has been studied by relatively few papers and with mixed results that may be due to a simultaneity problem ...

Targeting the ARRDC3–DRP1 Axis via hUMSC‐Derived Exosomal CRYAB for Neuroprotection in Cerebral Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Intranasally administered hUMSC‐derived exosomes modulate the CRYAB–ARRDC3–Drp1 axis, alleviating mitochondrial dysfunction and ferroptosis, enhancing neuronal survival, reducing oxidative stress, and promoting functional recovery in ischemia‐reperfusion injury, offering a promising therapeutic strategy for ischemic stroke.

Exploring the Contribution of Road Infrastructure and Environmental Factors to Crash Severity at Intersections in Mixed Traffic Settings

open access: yesInfrastructures
Road traffic crashes claim approximately 1.19 million lives annually worldwide, with low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) bearing a disproportionately high share of this burden. Intersections in these contexts are particularly hazardous due to mixed,

Packetized-voice/data integrated transmission on a token passing ring local area network [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
This paper investigates the performance of a token passing ring network with packetized-voice/data mixed traffic through extensive simulations. Both data and voice users are modeled in the simulations. Data users produce bursty traffic.

Safety in Mixed Traffic Environment

open access: yes, 2022
Safety is an essential target of the automation of driving functions. Safety is usually understood mainly as primary safety, avoiding being involved in accidents, but secondary safety is important as well, i.e., not inducing risks to other vehicles.
