Intersection Crossing in Mixed Traffic Flow Environment leveraging V2X information

open access: yes2019 IEEE International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE), 2019
The paper addresses the problem of safe crossing a non-signalized intersection in a mixed traffic scenario composed of both connected human-driven and autonomous vehicles. To solve this problem, we propose a control strategy that leverages information shared via V2X for extending the line-of-sight of the on-board ranging sensors.

An Approach to an Intersection Traffic Delay Study Based on Shift-Share Analysis

open access: yesInformation, 2015
Intersection traffic delay research has traditionally placed greater emphasis on the study of through and left-turning vehicles than right-turning ones, which often renders existing methods or models inapplicable to intersections with heavy pedestrian ...

An Anisotropic Traffic Flow Model with Look-Ahead Effect for Mixed Autonomy Traffic

open access: yesTransportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board
In this paper we extend the Aw–Rascle–Zhang (ARZ) non-equilibrium traffic flow model to take into account the look-ahead capability of connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs), and the mixed flow dynamics of human-driven and autonomous vehicles. The look-ahead effect of CAVs is captured by a non-local averaged density within a certain distance (the ...
