JASPER: Joint Optimization of Scaling, Placement, and Routing of Virtual Network Services

open access: yes, 2017
To adapt to continuously changing workloads in networks, components of the running network services may need to be replicated (scaling the network service) and allocated to physical resources (placement) dynamically, also necessitating dynamic re-routing

Optimization of Cellular Automata Model for Moving Bottlenecks in Urban Roads

open access: yesApplied Sciences
One of the key reasons why the road capacity of urban roads in China often fails to meet the designed capacity is the mixture of heavy vehicles (slow-moving) and light vehicles (fast-moving).

Investigation of the existence of city-scale three-dimensional macroscopic fundamental diagrams for bi-modal traffic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Recent research has demonstrated that the Macroscopic Fundamental Diagram (MFD) is reliable and practical tool for modeling traffic dynamics and network performance in single-mode (cars only) urban road networks.

Laser Engineering of HfN‐Based Nanoparticles for Safe NIR‐I Photothermal and X‐ray Enhancing Cancer Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we produced HfN‐based nanoparticles via femtosecond laser ablation in acetone. The nanoparticles exhibit a red‐shifted plasmonic resonance in the NIR‐I window, colloidal stability after coating with polyethyleneglycol, and excellent biocompatibility. The photothermal and X‐ray sensitization therapeutic effects were demonstrated for tumor

A Human‐Based Skin‐Lymphoreticular Model‐on‐Chip to Emulate Inflammatory Skin Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A human‐based lymphoreticular (LR) model was developed through guided self‐assembly and integrated in a skin‐lymphoreticular co‐culture in a microfluidic organ‐on‐chip to mimic interactions between skin and its draining lymph nodes. The human‐based skin‐lymphoreticular model resembles a minimally functional unit that allows to study interactions ...

Preliminary Study of a Ninj1‐Loaded Bimodal Ultrasound/NIR Fluorescence Targeted Molecular Probe for Diagnosing Early‐Stage Inflammation in Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) targeting remains a challenge for precise diagnosis. This work presents a dual‐modal nanoprobe (T‐IR780‐NBs) that combines ultrasound contrast with near‐infrared fluorescence. This technology utilizes proteomics‐derived antibodies that specifically localize to inflamed and injured cardiac tissue, enabling ...

Statistical Analysis of High-Flow Traffic States

open access: yes, 2013
The relation between the fundamental observables of traffic flow (i.e., vehicle density, flow rate, and average velocity) is of great importance for the study of traffic phenomena. Probably the most common source of such data are inductive loop detectors,

Enhancing Magnetic Hyperthermia at the Cell Membrane by Anchoring 92R‐Functionalized Magnetic Nanoparticles to Low‐Endocytic CCR9 Surface Receptors

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We present a strategy to enhance magnetic hyperthermia therapy by modulating nanoparticle–cell interactions. Antibody‐functionalized magnetic nanoparticles targeting the low‐internalizing CCR9 receptor enable spatially controlled membrane anchoring, reducing aggregation and maximizing heat generation under alternating magnetic fields.

A Group-Based Signal Timing Optimization Model Considering Safety for Signalized Intersections with Mixed Traffic Flows

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2019
The conventional stage-based signal control approach with uniform phase structure has been dominantly applied at signalized intersections in China. However, this approach cannot efficiently handle mixed traffic flows with unbalanced volumes.
