Estimation of Finite Mixture Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A recorded signal frequently results from the mixture of many signals from several classifiable sources. Knowledge of the contribution of the underlying sources to the recorded signal is valuable in several applications, such as remote sensing.

Combined machine learning approaches to predict the thermal conductivity of liquid mixtures

open access: yesScience and Technology for Energy Transition
The application of Machine Learning (ML)-based techniques was explored to create a fully predictive framework for estimating the thermal conductivity of multi-component mixtures containing hydrocarbons and oxygenated compounds.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

A note on posterior sampling from Dirichlet mixture models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this note we observe that the recent MCMC methods of Papaspiliopoulos & Roberts (2008) and Walker (2007) for Dirichlet mixture models are intrinsically con- nected and can be naturally combined to yield an algorithm which is better (in terms of ...

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Identifiability of Mixtures

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1961
The class of mixtures of a one-parameter additively-closed family of distributions is proved identifiable. A condition for a class of scale parameter mixtures to be identifiable is indicated and applications to Type III and uniform distributions are made.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

VaR and ES for linear Portfolis with mixture of elliptically distributed Risk Factors. [PDF]

open access: yes
The particular subject of this paper, is to give an explicit formulas that will permit to obtain the linear VaR or Linear ES, when the joint risk factors of the Linear portfolios, changes with mixture of t-Student distributions.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.
