Thermostability of striated and smooth adductor muscle tropomyosins from Yesso scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis

Journal of Biochemistry, 2010
The striated and smooth adductor muscle tropomyosins (TMs) of Yesso scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis have been known to express different isoforms, but have not been characterized in detail to date. In the present study, TMs from both muscles of Yesso scallop were purified and their stabilities were compared by circular dichroism (CD) spectrometry and ...

Temporal dynamics of genetic diversity of Japanese scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis (Jay, 1856)

Biology Bulletin, 2010
The season and age-related dependence of the distribution of the frequency of alleles and of five polymorphous loci have been studied for eight cultivated samples of the Japanese scallop M. yessoensis (Jay) from Alexeev Bay (Popov Island, Sea of Japan) using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis The consistency of the frequency of alleles and of ...

Ten polymorphic microsatellite loci in the giant scallop (Mizuhopecten yessoensis)

Molecular Ecology Notes, 2005
AbstractTen novel microsatellite loci were isolated from giant scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis, and the polymorphisms were examined to estimate genetic variability. The genetic variabilities varied depending on the locus. The number of alleles ranged from two to 17, and the observed and expected heterozygosities ranged from 0.17 to 0.99 and 0.33 to 0 ...

Metallothionein-like proteins induced by cadmium stress in the scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis

Ocean Science Journal, 2012
Organisms have evolved a cellular response called stress protein response that increases their tolerance in adverse environmental conditions. Well known stress proteins that bind essential and toxic metals are metallothionein (MT). The scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis is the most interesting organism because it is able to accumulate toxic cadmium in its

The ultrastructural features of embryonic and early larval development in Yesso scallop, Mizuhopecten yessoensis

Tissue and Cell, 2018
Fine structural features of Mizuhopecten yessoensis in different embryonic and larval developmental stages from oocyte to early veliger have been studied. Spermatozoa have a conical head, consisting of a short acrosome, nucleus, and 4 mitochondria in the middle piece. The flagellum is approximately 40 μm in length.

Cadmium-induced alterations in essential trace element homoeostasis in the tissues of scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part C: Pharmacology, Toxicology and Endocrinology, 1995
Studies were performed regarding the effect of cadmium accumulation on the levels of essential elements (copper, zinc and iron) in the tissues of a marine bivalve mollusc, Mizuhopecten yessoensis, exposed to cadmium at 250 ppb during 2 weeks.

Copper effect on the biomarker state of the Mizuhopecten yessoensis tissues in the prespawning period

Environmental Toxicology and Pharmacology, 2019
The aim of this study was to investigate the sensitivity of the marine scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis to different copper concentrations (10 and 30 μgl-1) in the prespawning period. Reaction of the scallop to this effect was evaluated by a set of biomarkers, including general metabolism enzymes (acid and alkaline phosphatase activities - AcPase, ALP),

[Temporal dynamics of morphologic diversity of the Japanese scallop Mizuhopecten Yessoensis (Jay, 1856)].

Izvestiia Akademii nauk. Seriia biologicheskaia, 2011
The temporal diversity of 11 morphological features of both shell valves in eight cultivated samples of the Japanese scallop M. yessoensis from Alexeev Bay (Popov Island, Sea ofJapan) at different ages and from different generations was analyzed. The sample diversity with respect to each investigated feature was observed.

Characterization of novel microsatellite markers from the Yesso scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis

Molecular Ecology Notes, 2006
AbstractTwelve polymorphic and informative microsatellite markers were isolated and characterized for the Yesso scallop, Mizuhopecten yessoensis. We characterized these loci by genotyping 48 individuals; the number of alleles ranged from two to eight, and the values of observed heterozygosity and expected heterozygosity varied from 0 to 0.8333 and from

Generation and analysis of expressed sequence tags from adductor muscle of Japanese scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part D: Genomics and Proteomics, 2010
A normalized cDNA library was constructed from the adductor muscle of M. yessoensis and acquired 4595 high quality expressed sequence tags (ESTs). After clustering and assembly of the ESTs, 3061 unigenes containing 654 contigs and 2407 singletons were identified.
