Retrospective Identification of Lactococcus petauri Among Archived Isolates From Farmed Fish in Japan: Pathogenicity and Molecular Epidemiology

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lactococcosis, caused by Lactococcus garvieae, L. formosensis, and L. petauri, is an important bacterial disease of farmed fish worldwide. In Japan, L. petauri has not previously been reported as a cause of lactococcosis, although lactococcosis cases not attributable to either L. garvieae or L. formosensis have been recorded.

Genomic and Genetic Diversity within the Pseudomonas fluorescens Complex. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
The Pseudomonas fluorescens complex includes Pseudomonas strains that have been taxonomically assigned to more than fifty different species, many of which have been described as plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) with potential applications in ...

A Novel Plant Secondary Metabolite‐Binding Gene Family Required for Full Virulence in Pectobacterium parvum

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2026.
A newly identified virulence family from Pectobacterium parvum that binds plant defensive compounds (e.g., solanidine) with high affinity enhances bacterial tolerance and is required for full virulence. This trade‐off between defence and growth reveals a key host‐adaptation strategy.

Assigning strains to bacterial species via the internet

open access: yesBMC Biology, 2009
Background Methods for assigning strains to bacterial species are cumbersome and no longer fit for purpose. The concatenated sequences of multiple house-keeping genes have been shown to be able to define and circumscribe bacterial species as sequence ...

Multilocus sequence analysis reveals different lineages of Pseudomonas anguilliseptica associated with disease in farmed lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus L.).

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
The bacterium Pseudomonas anguilliseptica has in recent years emerged as a serious threat to production of lumpfish in Norway. Little is known about the population structure of this bacterium despite its association with disease in a wide range of ...

Identification and Antifungal Mechanism of a Novel Actinobacterium Streptomyces huiliensis sp. nov. Against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense Tropical Race 4 of Banana

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2021
Banana is an important fruit crop. Fusarium wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense tropical race 4 (Foc TR4) seriously threatens the global banana industry. It is difficult to control the disease spread using chemical measures.

Xanthomonas euvesicatoria Associated With Outbreaks of Bacterial Blight of Onion in Central Brazil

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 4, July‐August 2026.
An investigation into bacterial blight (Xanthomonas euvesicatoria) outbreaks in Brazilian onions highlights the critical role of weeds and leftover soybeans as pathogen reservoirs. Effective disease control requires managing these alternative hosts. ABSTRACT Since 2018, outbreaks of typical bacterial blight caused by Xanthomonas have been observed in ...

Molecular Analysis of Bacterial Isolates From Necrotic Wheat Leaf Lesions Caused by Xanthomonas translucens, and Description of Three Putative Novel Species, Sphingomonas albertensis sp. nov., Pseudomonas triticumensis sp. nov. and Pseudomonas foliumensis sp. nov.

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2021
Xanthomonas translucens is the etiological agent of the wheat bacterial leaf streak (BLS) disease. The isolation of this pathogen is usually based on the Wilbrink’s-boric acid–cephalexin semi-selective medium which eliminates 90% of other bacteria, some ...

Improving Peach Fruit Yield and Quality Using Foliar Application of Nano Chelated Zinc and Seaweed Extract (Spirulina platensis): A Multivariate Analysis Approach

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
The combined application of nano‐zinc and Spirulina extract enhances peach yield, fruit firmness, and nutritional quality. An optimal treatment significantly improves fruit set (+107.5%), TSS, and vitamin C content. ABSTRACT The twenty‐seven identical peach trees were exposed to different levels of a Nano Chelated fertilizer contain 12% Zn and ...
