On Mn(Hg)/Mn(II) equilibria and reactions in aqueous solution
Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1976Abstract The title subject has been studied through galvanostatic single-pulse and chronopotentiometric measurements on the Mn(Hg)/Mn(II) electrode and equilibrium measurements on the same and the Ag/AgCl electrode, all in x MMnCl2+(0.5−x)M MgCl2 solutions of pH 4.3–4.9 at 25°C. The Mn(Hg)/Mn(II) reactions are found to occur in two consecutive steps,

High-Spin Ribbons and Antiferromagnetic Ordering of a MnII-Biradical-MnIIComplex
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2013A binuclear metal coordination complex of the first thiazyl-based biradical ligand 1 is reported (1 = 4,6-bis(1,2,3,5-dithiadiazolyl)pyrimidine; hfac =1,1,1,5,5,5,-hexafluoroacetylacetonato-). The Mn(hfac)2-biradical-Mn(hfac)2 complex 2 is a rare example of a discrete, molecular species employing a neutral bridging biradical ligand.

Mononuclear Mn(II), Co(II), and Cu(II) pivalates
Polyhedron, 2014Mononuclear Mn(II), Co(II), and Cu(II) pivalates were synthesized for the first time. They were isolated as salts with a composition NBu 4[MPiv3], where Piv is the pivalate anion. In the structure of the [MnPiv3] and [CoPiv3] coordination units, the environment of the central atom was found to be close to a trigonal prism.

Assessing taste and visual perception of Mn(II) and Mn(IV)
Journal AWWA, 2014The US Environmental Protection Agency secondary maximum contaminant level (SMCL) for manganese (Mn) is 0.05 mg/L, reportedly because of bitter metallic taste, black–brown particles in water, and black–brown discoloration of fixtures and laundry. This study revisited visual and taste thresholds for Mn(II) and Mn(IV) using one‐in‐five, one‐in‐three, and

Diversity of Mn oxides produced by Mn(II)-oxidizing fungi
Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 2011Manganese (Mn) oxides are environmentally abundant, highly reactive mineral phases that mediate the biogeochemical cycling of nutrients, contaminants, carbon, and numerous other elements. Despite the belief that microorganisms (specifically bacteria and fungi) are responsible for the majority of Mn oxide formation in the environment, the impact of ...

The term values for ${d}^{3}s$ and ${d}^{5}s$ have been calculated in Russell-Saunders coupling. For some of the terms of the same kind in ${d}^{5}s$, only the sum of the energies is obtained. The first approximation to the separations of the levels is also found for ${d}^{3}s$.

Singlets in the Mn ii Spectrum
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1956With the exception of one 1S term, the whole number of singlet terms which theory predicts for Mn ii in the 3d6, 3d5 4s, and 3d5 4p configurations, have been discovered; they give 41 atomic energy levels: 16 even and 25 odd. It has been possible to classify a total of 167 lines, 113 being combinations among these singlet terms, and 54 intercombination ...

Configuration Interaction in Mn II
Physical Review, 1951The theoretical formulas for ${d}^{6}$ and ${d}^{5}s$ are compared with the experimental data of Mn II. The relative positions of these configurations in Mn II allow the magnitude of configuration interaction to be determined accurately without the use of a least-squares calculation.
