UE Power Saving With Traffic Classification and UE Assistance
A mobile device - or user equipment (UE) - using 5G can be configured to operate with large bandwidths and a large number of MIMO layers to enable high-throughput applications. This, however, comes at the cost of high power consumption.

What’s mobile in mobile communication? [PDF]
Interrogating the terminology of “mobile” communication, this article notes that media and communicative practices have been mobile for millennia. What’s mobile about cell phones and other current mobile media is a new range of contexts in which personally meaningful and socially consequential interactions become possible.

In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

The supercritical carbon dioxide (S-CO2) Brayton cycle has become one of the most promising power generation systems in recent years. Owing to the high density of S-CO2, the turbine operates with a lower flow coefficient and a reduced blade height ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

Particle Dampers for Vibration Reduction Designed for a Motorcycle Handlebar
Health problems caused by excessive handle–arm vibrations (HAV) are very frequent in professionals working with machines that generate cyclic loads, like some hand tools (chainsaws, impulse tools and hammer drills, e.g.) and vehicles (like tractors and ...

We show that the length of compulsory education has a causal impact on regional labour mobility. The analysis is based on a quasi-exogenous staged Norwegian school reform, and register data on the whole population. Based on the results, we conclude that part of the US-Europe difference, as well as the European North-South difference in labour mobility,
