Cardiometabolic risk factors and multidomain functional, cognitive, and sensory impairments among tribal adults aged 45 years and above in India: evidence to inform healthy aging policy

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
BackgroundEvidence on functional, cognitive, and sensory impairments among aging tribal populations in India is inadequate, limiting the effectiveness of ongoing public health policies and programmes aimed at healthy aging and equity.

An ICMP-Based Mobility Management Approach Suitable for Protocol Deployment Limitation

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2009
Mobility management is one of the important tasks on wireless networks. Many approaches have been proposed in the past, but none of them have been widely deployed so far.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Associations of BMI and adipose tissue area and density with incident mobility limitation and poor performance in older adults.

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND: Obesity is a risk factor for disability, but risk of specific adipose depots is not completely understood. OBJECTIVE: We investigated associations between mobility limitation, performance, and the following adipose measures: body mass index ...

The association between mental health symptoms and mobility limitation among Russian, Somali and Kurdish migrants: a population based study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background Research has demonstrated a bidirectional relationship between physical function and depression, but studies on their association in migrant populations are scarce.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Hand-Grip Strength Cut Points to Screen Older Persons at Risk for Mobility Limitation

open access: yes, 2010
OBJECTIVES: To determine optimal hand‐grip strength cut points for likelihood of mobility limitation in older people and to study whether these cut points differ according to body mass index (BMI).DESIGN: Cross‐sectional analysis of data.SETTING: Data ...

Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Environmental settings and families' socioeconomic status influence mobility and the use of mobility devices by children with cerebral palsy Contextos ambientais e nível socioeconômico das famílias influenciam a mobilidade e a utilização de dispositivos de suporte por crianças com paralisia cerebral

open access: yesArquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria, 2013
Functional mobility of children with cerebral palsy (CP) is influenced by personal and environmental factors, serving as barriers and/or facilitators and impacting on children's strategies and functional outcome.
